6 Tips To Excel at 'Super Smash Bros.' for 3DS

Super Smash Brothers for Nintendo 3DS is out in the United States. The next chapter of Nintendo’s royal rumble between its franchises takes the game to the world of handheld, portable gaming, with more characters, items and features than ever before.
This iteration of Super Smash Bros. has only just landed on U.S. shores, but fans and pros alike have been hard at work on the Japanese version and the U.S. demo prior to its release, logging unfathomable hours of research over the last three weeks. From this exhaustive play, techniques and favorite characters are beginning to emerge.
The playing field is at least slightly more level now. Those who played previous titles on a professional level, most notably Super Smash Bros. Melee, are as new to the system as you and I. Mashable spoke to two of those veterans: D’Ron “D1” Maingrette, a competitive caster, and Wynton "Prog” Smith, a contributor to Smashboards.com and podcast Melee It On Me. D1 has been playing the Japanese version extensively to unearth everything about the game he can, and Prog has clocked serious time into the demo version as well.
Both of these veterans sat with us to play, talk and even share some of the game’s early techniques. Check out the video above to hear their thoughts.
